* On the MOVE

YAY..



Zaria is finally crawling. Well, its more commando style where you pull yourself along the floor but she can easily cross the room to where she wants to go.



Also in the last week she has figured out 2 baby signs..

She says light.. (points to light and clicks her thumb over her pointy finger)

and MILK (opens and closes her hand)


Today we were listening to some music and a song about milk comes on and she started signing to the song!! I was so amazed I nearly cried. It shows how aware she is of what is going on around her.


She has added a new word.. she says 'TA' when you give her something.

She has also found her ears when you ask where they are (we only showed her this for the first time yesterday)

*Bye! Lil Nana

Today Lil Nana went back home to England.

So we are a bit sad.

She tried to pack Zaria up in her suitcase and take her with her.

It has been lovely having her here in Blenheim and great that she got to spend lots of time with Zaria.

* First Word

Zaria's first proper word is

'DAD'

I gave her the photo off the fridge that has Dean, Vaughan and Shane on it, and she pointed to Dean and very clearly said 'Dad'
Have got it on video camera and then again on my camera (below) so it definately wasn't a fluke.



Also in the last couple of days you can ask her...

Where is Zaria's Head?
Where is Zaria's Puku? (tummy)
Where is Zaria's Toes?

and she knows where they are and pats them. Very Cute!

Zaria's 5th tooth has made an appearance.. (2nd from middle on right) and at the moment her 6th one is giving her a bit of grief and nearly popping through. (2nd from the middle on left)

* Swimming Lessons

We had our third swimming lesson today.
Floating on her back. I never knew that babies were so bouyant. I just have one hand under Zaria's neck and the rest of her just floats.

This is where we throw the duck across the pool then Zaria has to 'swim' to it.

Zaria loves splashing and is the splashiest out of the whole class.
Most of the time I can't see what the instructor is trying to show us because I have so much water in my face.

* Keneperu

We all went to Kenepuru and had a lovely holiday.

Fishing, Kayaking and eating Toasted Marshmallows. Yummmm

A bit of reading after lunch.

Zaria got this really cool ball for Xmas. It has rice inside it so it rattles.

Here she is all happy and singing.

Then she fell over and bumped her head. A very rare sight... Zaria crying, so I had to take a photo. Poor lil button.

* Mainly Music

This is a class where all the little kiddies get together and sing songs, play instruments and jump around.

Zaria absolutely loves it... she loves watching the bigger kids dancing around the hall.

* Our trip to the ZOO

We fed a giraffe (that was the highlight of the day) We even got to pat her neck.

* Nana's Birthday

and our 2nd Wedding Anniversary.

WE HAD A LOVELY DAY.
We all went for a bush walk to 'Bob's Bay' along the shoreline in Picton and then had lunch in a cafe when we got back.

Zaria painted a picture for Nana's Birthday present.

Her first peice of artwork.

She was very serious and concentrating very hard.

* Toothy pops

For the last few days Zaria has had a bit of a sore mouth.. and today when she woke up I spotted a little white tooth poking out of her gum.

Her first tooth is her top right one.

She points to things now too. We have photos on the fridge and we ask her..

'where's Jesse?... where's Dada?'.. etc.. and you can see her eyes scanning and then she points to the right photo.

* Swimming Pool

Today Zaria had her first swim in her paddling pool that she got for Christmas.

We weren't sure how she would react to the cold water but she absolutely LOVED IT!!

She splashed around like a mad thing!!

It was about 29deg here in Blenheim today so she needed to cool off.







and then had a big warm cuddle with Mum.

* Trip around South Island

We went on a family trip around the South Island.
It started down the west coast.

Our Camp ground in Franz Josef.

It was really hot and Zaria spent most of the time in the nuddy reading her book.



We took a long hike out to Franz Josef Glacier. We walked for about an hour, then we all had lunch by the glacier and dipped our fingers in the freeeeeezing cold water, and walked all the way back. We had to jump across rocks to get across the streams.


The next day we walked out to a seal colony along the beach.
Zaria loves being in her backpack. She sings and giggles most of the way.
